How is your holiday season going? It is in the midst of celebration that I am reminded of those who were left with next to nothing because of the war. Since the very first days of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, our church actively sought ways to help alleviate difficult conditions that so many civilians found themselves in. We gathered humanitarian aid in those days and sent it to the camps for refugees in the South of Russia. A little-known fact is that Russia has received more refugees from Ukraine during these last two years than any other country in Europe. Our next step was providing targeted and specific help to several families who were dispersed because of the conflict. This last year, however, we partnered with several other churches. Our team of volunteers has delivered on a bi-monthly basis much-needed help to the cities and villages that are in a very close proximity to the battle lines. In fact, our team is so close to the fighting that it is not uncommon for them to hear and see shelling by artillery from both sides.
This social work provided an opportunity for our church members not only to give towards this work, but also to approach their colleagues, giving them a chance to do something meaningful for those in need. Our youth leader who works as a lawyer approached his boss with the need, and as a result, his boss purchased a car for this work. Another company has agreed to triple the amount of money we raised during our candlelight service on Christmas Eve because they knew that we were giving our offering to this great cause of helping those in need.
So, in these waning moments of 2023, I wanted to thank you for making this work possible! Thank you so much for your faithful prayers and your giving during this past year. And if the Lord leads you, there is still a chance to send an end-of-the-year gift if you have not done so already.
Yours in praying and hastening the day of revival in Moscow and Russia,
Constantin and Alexandra
PS Speaking of Mission to Donbass if you or your church would like to partner with us in brining much needed humanitarian aid to the areas where no one else ministers please let me know.
- We are in the process of remodelling our new place right now. Mostly bathroom and kitchen. But remodeling in Russia is always a bit of an adventure that costs twice as much as you anticipated and lasts twice as long as you planned. Please pray that in our case God would grant us an exception to this rule and this remodelling will be done on time, will be of great quality and will not cost as much as we have anticipated.
- Our youth are planning a winter retreat that starts on January 3. Please pray that new teenagers join our weekly ministry as a result of this outreach.
- It is easy to forget about the war and it is very easy to get used to it. I'm so grateful to our team of volunteers that bring humanitarian aid almost to the front lines of this war on a bi-monthly basis. Their stories and pictures remind all of us of the reality of carnage that is still going on. Please continue to pray with us for peace between Russia and Ukraine.
